Since Tea Circle’s expansion in July 2021, we have been able to implement our commitment to expanded opportunities for English-Burmese and Burmese-English translations and publications on the site. With this goal in mind, we are excited to announce an open call for Burmese language submissions to Tea Circle’s special forum. (Read the Burmese version here)
We invite contributors to submit in the following categories: research reports, notes from the field, news analyses, opinion pieces, comments, and multimedia pieces. We are happy to consider submissions of any category, provided Tea Circle is the first and only outlet for publication. While our English language submissions (and subsequent translations into Burmese) have addressed these topics, we see original, Burmese language submissions as offering new and lesser-heard perspectives from Myanmar, including from young people, practitioners, and non-experts/non-academics. We especially encourage Burmese submissions that expand upon, extend beyond, or challenge previous Tea Circle posts.
We are particularly interested in contributions which address the following topics:
1) Myanmar’s responses to COVID-19
2) Everyday experiences since the Myanmar coup, and
3) Visions of a “post-coup” Myanmar
Contributions beyond the above scope are welcome.
All submissions should be a maximum of 2,000-2,500 words (13-16 pages) and must be formatted in line with our current submission policy (English), (Burmese). A proposed title, byline, short biography, and related images should be included in the document.
Submissions should be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com, with the subject line “Tea Circle Special Forum: New Submission.” Submissions must be received by October 31, 2021.
